Real Hardwood Flooring for Your Home
At Ohio Carpet and Flooring, we specialize in authentic solid hardwood flooring, bringing warmth and character to any room. Available in a range of species, grains, and finishes, our hardwood floors are built for durability, important in a Central Ohio climate where summer humidity and dry winter heat both put real wood to the test. Whether you're remodeling or building new in Columbus, we deliver hardwood flooring with professional installation and honest guidance on what will hold up in your home. If concrete slabs or a basement are part of the project, our engineered hardwood page covers the more climate-stable alternative.

Solid Hardwood Flooring Sale
Solid hardwood is one of the core specialties at Ohio Carpet and Flooring. We sell and install solid hardwood in every major style, species, and brand, and because we buy directly from manufacturers in volume, we're able to pass along fair pricing rather than big-box markups. We carry and sell most of the solid hardwood brands, including Lauzon, Appalachian Hardwood, Armstrong, Mirage, Aacer, Somerset, Vintage, Coswick, Sheoga, Mercier, Kahrs, Bruce, Owens, LM, Anderson, and custom-milled hardwood floors. We can also stain and finish unfinished solid wood into any color you have in mind.

Solid Wood Flooring Installation
Our installers handle solid hardwood installation over plywood, concrete, or particle board, using nail-down or glue-down methods depending on the subfloor. Installation patterns range from classic straight, random, or diagonal layouts to chevron and herringbone, custom basket weave, monticello, haddon hall, and wood medallions and inlays. Every solid wood floor Ohio Carpet and Flooring installs follows standard wood-flooring industry practice, and custom orders are always welcome, if the stairs need to match, see our solid wood stairs work below.

Solid Wood Stairs
Solid wood stairs are a true craftsmanship project, the staircase is the central feature of most homes, and it either reads as a highlight or an afterthought depending on how it's built. Unlike carpet, which is the budget option for stairs, hardwood stair work is priced mostly on labor rather than material, since it's essentially a custom fabrication job on every set of treads. We handle custom square nosings, floating stairs, open-style stairs, and solid site-finished wood treads, see our dedicated hardwood stairs page for pricing, or request a free estimate to get a crew out to measure.

Solid Hardwood Flooring - frequently asked questions
Properly installed solid hardwood lasts 50-100+ years. It can be sanded and refinished 6-10 times, so it routinely outlives the homeowner and adds long-term resale value.
Not directly, solid hardwood is nailed into a wood subfloor. Over slab, we install plywood first or recommend engineered hardwood, which is dimensionally stable and glue-down friendly.
Prefinished planks arrive sealed at the factory (faster install, micro-bevels between boards). Site-finished is sanded and coated in your home for a perfectly flat, custom-color floor.
Solid hardwood reacts to moisture and temperature swings, so we generally recommend engineered hardwood over radiant heat. If you want solid wood, we'll specify narrow widths and rift-and-quartered cuts to minimize movement.
